Well, the good news is that it is rumored that Apple will announce support for AVCHD as early as MacWorld Expo in January. Of course, this is just a rumor at this point, and who knows if such support will require us to purchase the newest version of iLife.

I need a new camcorder, so I'm hoping that Apple comes out with AVCHD support soon and maybe I can buy a camcorder like this one when the price goes down a few more hundred dollars. Consider yourself an early adopter. You shouldn't be out in the cold for too long.

I bought this camera as well. I loved the reviews, I love the camera. But no bloody Mac support! AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH! Unlike yourself, I can't return it, so am stuck with a bloody pricey paper weight until Apple support AVCHD

Good for you! When I used to do sales, people would ask what was good and I told them to hold to models and get what felt best.

If UI troubles you, or the way it feels in your hand, or the way it looks, you will not use the device. People cannot seem to understand this. This is why, before I purchased my MacBook Pro, I made the store unlock the machines so that I could feel how the laptop felt in my arms while asking myself "will I really carry this machine around with me?"

Bummer about the lack of compatibility, though. It's probably a good thing, as the price will likely reduce by the time Apple has the software to play with it.
